Kyogo Furuhashi just getting started at Celtic as Ange Postecoglou salutes Parkhead young guns

Ange Postecoglou has warned Celtic’s rivals that Kyogo Furuhashi is only just warming up following his flying start in Scotland.

The Japan international has bagged five goals in as many games after hitting the ground running at Parkhead.

Furuhashi has quickly become a real fans favourite and the £4.5 million paid to Vissel Kobe already looks a shrewd buy.

But had of the first leg of the Europa League play-off against AZ Alkmaar, Postecoglou insists there is more in Furuhashi’s locker.

The Hoops gaffer said: “For us, what is really key is that he is still relishing the task at hand, he's enjoying his football, he understands that there are challenges ahead of him.

“But he’s not letting up, he wants to keep improving and I'm sure there’s more to come.

"When he first sort of broke into the J League he was more of a left-winger, and he’s certainly still a threat playing there.

“He did well for us because when he plays wide, it’s a different kind of threat he offers to the opposition as they can lose sight of him being in the wide areas.”

Postecoglou praised the impact of Joe Hart since his arrival providing much-needed experience but the Celtic manager has been happy with the maturity shown by some of his youngsters who are helping to support new skipper Callum McGregor.

He told Celtic TV : “Joe’s been great since he’s come in and it’s one of the reasons that we brought him in, that he’s got tons of experience at the highest level.

“He’s seen it all and having that sort of experienced person coming in helps, but I've been really impressed with the whole group in how they’ve stepped up, even the younger ones like David Turnbull, Welshy, Anthony Ralston, Greg Taylor – these guys who’ve been here a while feel that responsibility that they’re not leaving Cal isolated as a leader.

“They’re doing their bit to help him along, and I think Cal’s enjoying that. He knows he's not on his own. He’s driving the whole group but he knows he’s got willing lieutenants either side of him.”
