Kyogo Furuhashi in Celtic survival pledge as he sidesteps English Premier League transfer poser

Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi has insisted his focus is on getting things right at Parkhead when quizzed about a move to the English Premier League.

The 26-year-old has been a smash hit in the Scottish Premiership since joining Ange Postecoglou 's rebuild from J-League side Vissel Kobe.

The Japan cap has netted eight times in 11 appearances for the Parkhead outfit despite missing five games to injury.

That form has led to some outlets in his homeland wondering how far the striker can go - and if a move south of the border could be the next step.

In an interview with Japanese commentator Takashi Mizunuma while on international duty, he admitted that it was encouraging to see countryman Takehiro Tomiyasu go to Arsenal and impress.

However, his focus was on putting a run of results together with Celtic.

When asked by Mizunuma if he would like to following in the footsteps of Odsonne Edouard and leave Celtic Park for the English top flight, he said: “Many players go from Scotland to the EPL.

"It’s motivating to see Takehiro Tomiyasu do well. Good results could open that path for me, but I have to get results to survive at Celtic and the Japan National Team.

"I want to do the best I can and contribute to (both) teams.”

Kyogo came off the bench for Japan in their defeat to Saudi Arabia, but will hoping to start the crucial World Cup qualifier with Australia.
