Kyogo Furuhashi given Celtic send off for the ages as thousands of fans fill stadium to say goodbye

Celtic new boy Kyogo Furuhashi was given a rock star goodbye by thousands of adoring Vissel Kobe fans during an incredible farewell ceremony before his move to Glasgow.

The Japanese international completed a £4.5m move to Parkhead on Friday and the Noevir Stadium was packed on Sunday morning to pay homage to the 26-year-old before he leaves.

Billed as a 'transfer send-off ceremony' fans were able to get up close and personal with their star man who is the top scorer in the J-League.

The entire event was also screened on the club's YouTube channel as team-mate Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta was among the players who lifted Furuhashi aloft.

Vissel Kobe opened their 10,000-capacity South Stand of the stadium to let fans in to salute a player who played his final game on Saturday.

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou admits he can't wait to get his new man in as he lamented ongoing protocols amid the pandemic.

He said: “It’s not just about signing players, it’s how we can get them in.

“It’s a ten-day to two-week process so that’s the challenging part at the moment, we’re not able to get people in quick enough.

“It’s just the world we live in. If we could get on a plane, go over there and do the signing.

“We’d all be taking photos and we’d be unveiling him here today. Unfortunately nothing like that happens any more.

“We are working on multiple fronts."
