Kyogo Furuhashi appreciates Celtic support after sickening racial abuse as he states 'I'll never walk alone'

Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi has felt the backing of his fans over the past 24 hours after being racially abused on social media.

And the Japanese striker insists he'll "never walk alone" after an outpouring of overwhelming support to denounce the narrow-minded songs and gestures aimed at him on Snapchat from a Rangers supporter's bus.

Footage from the social media app showed a number of fans referring to Furuhashi's Japanese background in a derogatory way before then performing an offensive gesture.

Condemnation followed from across the Glasgow divide and Celtic released a strongly worded statement.

And now Furuhashi has responded on Twitter as he posted: "I'll never walk alone #NoToRacism"

Late on Sunday night his club wrote: "If reports are accurate then such sickening and pathetic racist behaviour directed towards Kyogo Furuhashi deserves absolute condemnation.

"Unfortunately, a number of Celtic players in recent years have suffered similar racist abuse.

"As a club open to all, we stand firmly against racism in all its forms and we will give Kyogo our full support.

"All stakeholders must work together in tackling all forms of bigotry."

A spokesperson for Rangers said they are currently investigating the footage, while it's understood one of the men depicted in the video has quit the supporter's club.

The Ibrox club said: "Rangers condemns all forms of racism and discrimination.

"Those who partake in such behaviour are not representative of our club or the loyal support who have stood by us through thick and thin."
