Kyogo Furuhashi and Tom Rogic in Celtic availability sweat after pair are set on World Cup collision course

Kyogo Furuhashi and Tom Rogic are set to go head-to-head in their bid for World Cup qualification.

But it could give Ange Postecoglou a fixture headache as they race to get back in time and team up on Premiership duty.

Australia and Japan have been drawn in the same Asian qualifying group in their quest to qualify for Qatar 2022.

The nations play each other on 12 October, meaning both players face a long haul homecoming during the next international break as well.

With six goals in his first six games for the club, Furuhashi is virtually a shoo-in for the Japan squad that heads to China next month after hosting Oman on September 2.

The Hoops' top scorer already has a one-in-two strike rate for his national team, netting three times in six appearances.

Rogic is in contention for a Socceroos call-up as well, with Graham Arnold’s team facing China as well before taking on Vietnam.

But both will be up against the clock to be back in time for Celtic meeting with Ross County three days later.

It will be a similar story in October.

Rogic and Furuhashi could find themselves in direct opposition after facing Saudi Arabia and Oman respectively before Australia and Japan face off on 12 October.

It’s then another lengthy journey back to Glasgow ahead of Celtic playing Motherwell the following weekend.
