Kyogo Furuhashi abuse condemned by Celtic as club slam 'sickening and pathetic' scenes on Rangers fan bus

Celtic have condemned "sickening and pathetic" abuse of Kyogo Furuhashi after a video surfaced showing fans on a Rangers supporters bus singing racist songs.

Ahead of the clash with Ross County a video surfaced on social media in which a group of supporters directed racial abuse at the Japanese star.

The clip posted to Snapchat showed Rangers fans singing a song with lyrics featuring the words "Furuhashi ate my dog" and later making an offensive and racist gesture.

Fans on both sides of the divide condemned the abuse of the Celtic new boy, with supporters urging Police Scotland to act.

On Sunday evening Furuhashi's club responded to the clip, condemning the footage and urging all of Scottish football to unite and act.

Celtic said in a statement: "If reports are accurate then such sickening and pathetic racist behaviour directed towards Kyogo Furuhashi deserves absolute condemnation.

"Unfortunately, a number of Celtic players in recent years have suffered similar racist abuse.

"As a club open to all, we stand firmly against racism in all its forms and we will give Kyogo our full support.

"All stakeholders must work together in tackling all forms of bigotry."

A spokesperson for Rangers said they are currently investigating the footage.

They said: "Rangers condemns all forms of racism and discrimination.

"Those who partake in such behaviour are not representative of our club or the loyal support who have stood by us through thick and thin."
