Kym's family was hoping she could shed her demons. Then her body was found

The distraught mother and aunt of a Perth woman whose body was found in bushland on the weekend say she had her demons but was loved by everyone who knew her.

A member of the public called police early on Sunday morning after discovering the body in an area off Canning Dam Road in Bedfordale, about 30 kilometres south-east of Perth.

She has been identified as Kym Taylor, 37, who was known to reside in the southern Perth suburb of Hamilton Hill but was living an itinerant lifestyle.

Police are treating her death as a homicide and her family have made a public appeal for information.

Ms Taylor's mother, Courtney Hill-Aaron, said she had not spoken to her daughter for several months, but was horrified to learn of her death.

"I can't even explain to you how numb I am feeling now," she said.

"Kym went down paths that she probably shouldn't have done and she always knew that she could come back to her mother.

"She always came back to us. We all love her. We still love her."

Aunt Leanne Taylor said she last spoke to her niece three weeks ago when Ms Taylor contacted her asking for family photos.

"She really desperately wanted to reconnect with her family," she said.

"I can't believe that she's gone. It really hurts so much."

Detective Sergeant Steve Cleale said police were trying to establish how she spent her final days.

"The investigation is in its very early stages and we are in the process of establishing how Kym died," he said.

"We are particularly interested in knowing her movements over the last month.

"Someone out there knows something about Kym's death."

The scene where Ms Taylor's body was found remained cordoned off.

Police have asked anyone who came into contact with Ms Taylor in recent weeks to contact them.
