Kym Marsh teases new project as she prepares to leave Coronation Street

Kym Marsh has teased about a new project that she's working on as she prepares to wave goodbye to the Coronation Street cobbles.

The soap favourite said she's 'having a ball' as she posed alongside celebrity makeup artist Sally Rowe.

Fans are aware that Kym, who has played Michelle Connor in Coronation Street for 13 years, is taking a break from the soap to explore other roles.

Sharing a photo on her Instagram the actress told fans: "Me and my gal @sallyrowemua great day working on the most interesting project!!! Best part is I am having a ball!!! Thank you fit Sally for making me feel pretty x"

One intrigued follower commented: "You look great Kym as always. Can't wait to find out what this new project is."

The 43-year-old announced her departure from the cobbles in February after 13 years playing former Rovers Return landlady Michelle, but she said she will be back and has denied that the ITV programme is in trouble.

Writing in her column for OK! Magazine, Kym previously said that the flurry of exits from the soap is just a coincidence and that there is no 'crisis'.

She said: "Whichever actors are involved in it, Coronation Street will continue to be a big, brilliant show. There’s no 'crisis'.

"It's just natural that a show like Corrie will have comings and goings - just like you would on any real-life street in the UK."

Kym, Tristan Gemmill, Faye Brookes and Lucy Fallon are leaving the show and viewers have already waved goodbye to Connie Hyde, who played to Sally Metcalfe's sister Gina Seddon and Bhavna Limbachia, who played Rana Habeeb who died in the Underworld factory collapse in March.

Robert proposed to Michelle again (ITV)

Her leaving date and exit storyline aren't yet known but when she announced her departure, Kym said it was "an incredibly difficult decision."

She said in a statement about leaving the soap: “When I was lucky enough to be offered four episodes on Coronation Street I could never in my wildest dreams have thought I’d be here 13 years later.

“It’s been an incredibly difficult decision but it feels like the right time for me to take a break from the show and explore some other roles.

He got back with Michelle and dumped Vicky (ITV)

“But this isn’t the last you’ve heard of Michelle Connor, she’ll be back! I can’t wait to see what the writers have in store for the future.”

Kym's character recently reunited with her ex Robert Preston, played by Tristan, but is unaware that he's about to become a dad after a secret relationship with Vicky Jefferies.
