Kym Marsh's devastating agony as her pals failed to attend her baby son's funeral

Kym Marsh's heart broke when her friends failed to attend her baby's funeral.

It's been 11 years since the Coronation Street star grieved the loss of her baby Archie in February 2009.

Little Archie had died tragically moments after he had been born 21 weeks and five days too early.

Kym, 44, shared her heartache over friends not attending the funeral because they felt they couldn't "cope".

She said on her new BBC show Morning Live: "I had almost got to the point where I wasn't accepting anything yet, but equally, I found that people didn't know what to say to me or how to talk to me, so, therefore, avoided that completely.

"Some people didn't want to come to his funeral because they felt…they just couldn't cope with such a small baby's funeral.

"They felt really difficult, it was a difficult thing for them."

Kym opened up about her grief to former Gogglebox star and vicar Kate Bottley on the show.

Looking back, the actress admitted initially she didn't want to talk about her heartache because then "it would be real".

She added: "When I lost my son, Archie, 11 years ago now and I lost him quite late in my pregnancy...

"I personally didn't want to talk about it initially, because I felt that if I talked about it, it would be real."

It was a devastating loss for Kym and her then-husband Jamie Lomas.

Kym has two grown up children David, 25, and Emily, 23, who she shares with former partner Dave Cunliffe.

The starlet also raises her nine-year-old daughter Polly with Jamie.

Morning Live airs weekdays from 9.15am on BBC One.
