Kym Marsh lands new presenting role which is set to rival ITV's Lorraine

Kym Marsh has landed a new presenting role with the BBC.

The former Coronation Street actress will pair up with Gethin Jones to host a new morning show to rival ITV's Lorraine.

Morning Live will launch next month after BBC Breakfast finishes and will air up until Christmas on BBC One.

The broadcaster has said the programme will be a "lively and entertaining mix of topical content and expert advice," and air at 9.15am - going up against Lorraine Kelly which begins at 9am.

Kym, 44, who has been co-presenting on The One Show and fronted documentary series Love or Money for the BBC, said: "I've always enjoyed morning TV, it’s a great way to start the day – with a cuppa in hand of course.

"I love nothing more than a good catch-up, although this will be on a slightly different scale, more of a daily conversation with our lovely viewers.

"I think variety is key so I'm really excited to work with Gethin and our fantastic guest presenters to bring the latest in lifestyle, health and consumer concerns."

Kym left Corrie at the end of last year and just last month she was spotted filming her first major TV role since leaving the Cobbles and Michelle Connor behind.

Kym is set to star in series four of the BBC drama The Syndicate, which explores how the lives of a group of people change after they win the lottery.
