Kym Marsh enjoys 'love nest' getaway with husband before BBC Strictly as launch date announced

Strictly Come Dancing contestant Kym Marsh has enjoyed a romantic break with her husband Scott Ratcliff before taking to the dancefloor. The former Coronation Street star, who was the second star to be announced for the 2020 line-up after fellow former Corrie actor Will Mellor, shared a series of loved-up snaps of herself and Scott taking some precious time out together in the Lake District.

The smitten couple, who tied the knot last October, stayed in a holiday cottage called the Love Nest at The Swan Hotel in Newby Bridge and enjoyed some spa treatments. And Kym, who married the parachute regiment army major at The Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst, said it was the 'perfect way to start Scott’s leave.'

Kym and Scott began dating back in 2018 after being introduced by their mutual friend Antony Cotton, who plays Sean Tully in Corrie. The actor had a special role at the ceremony as Master of Ceremonies and co-star Alison King, who plays Carla Connor, was a bridesmaid.

Jane Danson who plays Leanne Battersby, Tristan Gemmill who played Kym's late husband Robert Preston in the soap, Chris Gascoyne who plays Peter Barlow, Sally-Ann Matthews who plays Jenny Connor and Ryan Prescott who plays Kym's on-screen son Ryan Connor were also among the guests. Kym announced the happy news that she was engaged to Scott on her 45th birthday last June.

On Saturday Strictly fans were excited to find out the launch date from 2021 contestant AJ Odudu. The host of the revamped The Big Breakfast announced on the show on Saturday (August 20): “We do have the exclusive that the launch of Strictly Come Dancing 2022 is going to be on September 17. How exciting.”

And Strictly professional Johannes Radebe, who was a guest on the show, said: "It is exciting – you would know!" and he added: "Everyone is waiting for it, I know."

It's an exciting time for Kym and her family as last week the BBC's Morning Live presenter announced she had become a grandmother for the second time. She proudly shared pictures and an adorabkle black and white video after her son David and his fiancée Courtney welcomed a baby boy.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday evening, 46-year-old Kym wrote: "Introducing…..Clayton Lenny David Cunliffe!!! Our beautiful new grandson was welcomed into the world on 17.08.22 weighing a whopping 10lb 7oz!!

"I am so very proud of our future daughter in law @courtneyleac for being such a warrior and of our son @cunliffe890 for being the most wonderful supportive partner. You are already incredible parents and he is a very lucky little boy!! We love you so much."

The former Hear'Say singer continued: "And to our darling Clay. You are so so loved already by so many and We are so very lucky to be your YaYa and Pop. What adventures you have before you little one, we can’t wait to watch you grow… just don’t grow up too fast!!! We love you with all of our hearts."

Kym, who played Michelle Connor in Corrie until 2019, is also a doting 'Loli' to grandson Teddy after her eldest daughter Emilie and her fiance Mikey Hoszowskyj welcomed their baby boy in May 2019.

In a statement Kym said about joining Strictly Come Dancing: "I’ve considered doing Strictly for years but the timings never worked out. I’m so delighted that this year they have! I’m a huge fan of the show and can’t believe I’m going to go from watching at home in my pyjamas to actually dancing in front of the judges in a glittery dress, it’s unreal!"

Kym won ‘Best Newcomer’ at both the National Television Awards and British Soap Awards for her role as former Rovers Return landlady and bistro owner Michelle. She joined the Trafford-based soap in 2006 and stayed 13 years in the role.

More recently, Kym played the notorious Alex in the touring theatre production of Fatal Attraction. And she is soon set to star in the revival of the BBC school drama Waterloo Road which has returned to Greater Manchester after being set in Rochdale and will air later this year.
