Kym Marsh denies Coronation Street is in crisis as 'six more stars plan to leave'

Kym Marsh has hit back at claims Coronation Street is in crisis, insisting it will still be a 'big, brilliant' show, no matter who leaves.

Seven stars - including Kym - have left so far this year amid talk that 'poor pay and long hours' have plunged morale to an 'all-time low'.

But Kym, 42, who plays Michelle Connor in the ITV soap, says the slew of departures is just a coincidence.

"Whichever actors are involved in it, Coronation Street will continue to be a big, brilliant show. There’s no ‘crisis’," she tells OK! magazine .

"It’s just natural that a show like Corrie will have comings and goings – just like you would on any real-life street in the UK!

"I personally can’t wait to see which new faces might be turning up on the cobbles."

Tristan Gemmill (Robert Preston), Bhavna Limbachia (Rana Habeeb) and Connie Hyde (Gina Seddon) have already left the street, with Faye Brookes (Kate Connor), Katie McGlynn (Sinead Tinker) and Lucy (Bethany Platt) are soon to follow.

And sources tell The Mirror that six more stars could be set to walk because of the rumoured discontent.

“I know of another half dozen actors who are considering their positions,” said the insider.

“The bosses have had a series of meetings to discuss the situation, but don’t seem to have come up with any concrete plans. They've got this old-school mindset of ‘no one is bigger than Corrie’.

“The whole cast are miserable. They believe bosses are being hypocritical by forcing them to endorse sponsors like Costa and Co-Op on set but not allowing them to endorse anything on personal social media. They find the product placements embarrassing.”
