Kym Marsh considered adopting a child with new husband but says they're both too busy

Newly-wed Kym Marsh is still coming down after a lavish wedding celebration with her Army Major husband Scott Ratcliff but their thoughts have already turned to what family life will look like.

Former pop star turned Corrie actress, Kym is a mum-of-three and Scott also has a daughter from a previous relationship, but their love of kids found them considering adoption and discussing extending their brood before they tied the knot.

Kym told OK : "As a couple, we don’t want more children. I’m 45 and I can’t physically have any myself anyway due to a procedure I had done several years ago. We considered adoption at one point but we’re just so busy."

Kym is already mum to 10-year-old daughter Polly and grown-up children David, 26, and Emilie, 24, and step-mum to Scott's daughter Renee, six. She also has a two-year-old grandson Teddy.

Explaining how they've come to their decision, Scott added: "One of us would have to give up work. We’ve got Polly and Renee, who are only 10 and six, so we do have young children. We want to focus on them."

The family will be based in the Cheshire area to be close to Scott's family and a good 'halfway' point for Kym whose family are in Scotland.

With Scott having a demanding military role, they could be offered military accommodation but Kym has decided it's not the right time for their family.

Kym added: "I don’t want to disrupt my daughter and change her schools. Maybe when she’s left school it might be something we’d consider. We’re happy with how it works right now."

The happy couple tied the knot last Saturday with a highly emotional ceremony at historic Royal Memorial Chapel at Sandhurst before their celeb friends and Scott's military pals partied late into the night.

Kym, 45, looked stunning in a sweeping Carolina Herrera gown, while Army Major Scott, 33, looked handsome in his uniform. After Scott proposed in July, the pair sped up their nuptials as Kym’s dad, Dave, 76, has been diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer.

Kym’s former Coronation Street co-star, Alison King, acted as one of the bridesmaids, while her team of “groomsmen” included actor Antony Cotton, who first introduced the couple back in 2018.

Kym added: ''In many ways I feel like Scott saved me. I got to a point where I’d been so unlucky in love over the years. Scott and I are so different to anything else I’ve ever known and it’s strange as neither of us were looking for love when we fell for each other. He is my best friend and loves me no matter what.''

The happy couple have chose to wait until December to enjoy a honey-moon in the sun and enjoy spending time together.
