Kym Marsh breaks down on Morning Live as she tells dad she loves him after cancer diagnosis

Kym Marsh broke down in tears as she told her dad she loves him after his cancer diagnosis.

The former Corrie actress and her dad Dave recorded a film for BBC's Morning Live, which Kym hosts alongside Gethin Jones, showing her dad talk about being told he had advanced prostrate cancer.

Dave, 76, put off visiting the GP when the coronavirus pandemic hit and his wife, Pauline, said he was "so stubborn".

He recalled getting "really strong" back ache three or four year ago and after a scan was referred to physio.

But Kym explained that when the pandemic hit, her dad knew something wasn't right but felt he "couldn't go to the GP during that time."

A blood test and bone scan eventually revealed that Dave had cancer which has now spread to his pelvis, spine, ribs and left leg.

"I have good days and bad days. Some of the bad days can be really bad and I think of nothing else but I've got cancer," Dave tearfully said during the film. "It's hard," he added.

Kym later became emotional in the film as she discussed how "difficult" it is to her dad cry as it's "not like him".

The actress then sits with her dad and tells him she's in "awe" of him.

"You have always taught be to be strong and not take things lying down, sink or swim," Kym said.

Dave tells her that you've "only got one life" and to "look after it" before Kym added: "I'm in absolute awe of you, Dad. Your fight..."

Kym began to cry as her dad pulled her in for a cuddle.

"Love you dad, so proud of you," she added as he told her: "I'm not going anywhere."

As they returning to the Morning Live studio, Kym was trying to hold back tears as she reiterated how in awe of her dad she is and how the film was "difficult to watch".

"He's so brave to share that," Kym said. "He just wants to get the message out there in the hope that somebody out there might see it and it might just help someone.

"Proud of you dad," she added to the camera.

She also added that he is "absolutely determined" to walk her down the aisle after her boyfriend Scott Ratcliff popped the question over the weekend.
