Kylie Minogue is moving back to Australia to be nearer her family and friends after 30 years living in the UK.
The Mirror exclusively reported that the 53-year-old singer has decided to return to her home country after lockdown made her realise she enjoyed spending more time with her family in Melbourne.
A source close to the pop songstress said: “This is something she has been thinking about for a while. This year, when she was in Australia for an extended period due to travel restrictions, it gave her time to think about where she wants to be based.
“Like many artists she spends much of her life on the road or travelling so she doesn’t anticipate that this is a major change for her as she’s never in one place for a long time anyway.
“Covid has given her a lot of time to think about the future and she wants to see more of her family in the times when she isn’t travelling, and so she will use Australia as her base.”
In newly-filed documents, the star has changed the service address for her four main businesses to an address in Hawthorn, a suburb of Melbourne.
The Mirror reported that as well as her parents Carol and Ron, her brother Brendon and sister Dannii also live Down Under, as well as her nephew Ethan.
The decision to move marks a change that looked unlikely last year. Speaking in a September 2020 interview she felt her boyfriend Paul Solomons would not like to move.
According to reports, Paul, 46 left his job in London last month which would enable him to spend more time in in Australia.
The couple are in the UK at the moment as Kylie prepares to put out some new music. Her debut album, Kylie, was launched 33 years ago.
The source added: "Her love for London and the UK remains undiminished and she will still be here a lot."
