Kylie Minogue fought back tears when forced to cancel Dublin gig

Kylie Minogue revealed she fought back tears before making the call to cancel her Dublin gig due to illness.

The mega star was due to perform at the 3Arena on October 7 2018, but was forced to cancel the gig early that day as she battled a bad flu and sore throat.

She was also forced to cancel her Belfast show which was due to take place the following day.

Looking back at the difficult decision, the 'Spinning Around' songstress admitted it broke her heart to make the call.

Speaking to RTE 2FM Breakfast with Doireann & Eoghan on Thursday, she said:

“I was fairly unwell with a bad flu or bronchitis or something leading up to the show in Dublin and I tried day after day to get better and even up until about lunchtime on the day of the show I was trying my best through the night and the morning and I had to call it.

“I was devastated, it was horrible,” she said.

“I felt awful about that. All my crew were there, everyone was on their way, people had flown internationally to be there, I mean who wouldn’t want to go to Dublin.

“And I really could not do it. I think I’d scraped my way through the previous two gigs. And I mean really scraped, and I was like ‘please don’t cry, don’t cry and the crew was like ‘oh you’ll be fine’,” she added.

“When you’re unwell, you’re unwell and unfortunately yeah, it was a very long morning, that morning, but it’s really when there is just no other option.”

The October gigs were rescheduled for December of the same year and Kylie admitted she had a ball on her festive return.

“But we did come back and have an incredible gig, by the time we came back it was early December so it was Christmas vibes, it was brilliant” Kylie said.

The iconic pop sensation singer was talking to promote her new album and lifted the lid on how she created some ‘lockdown babies’ during the pandemic.

She said: [Lockdown has been] a rollercoaster like everybody.

“It was a little topsy turvy but overall, so appreciative that I got to find out a way to work and be creative and so it is doubly amazing to me that my album is out that was largely made in lockdown and some of these lockdown babies are out in the world, so it is very heartwarming.”
