Kylie Jenner’s dogs: What we know about her growing pack

Kylie Jenner’s dogs are often a subject of discussion because it can be hard to keep track of how many she has. The mom-of-two might have rocketed to fame due to her role in the reality TV programme Keeping Up with the Kardashians (KUWTK), and made a name for herself by launching her makeup brand, Kylie Cosmetics – but any pet lover will agree that it's Kylie Jenner’s dogs (and the mystery of how many she has) that keeps us coming back for more.

In 2023, Kylie revealed that she shares her home with seven dogs, which are a mix of Italian greyhounds and dachshunds. But since then, it looks like more four-legged friends have been added to her fur family after eagle-eyed fans spotted new dogs appearing beside her on TV or featuring on her social media page.

To find out everything there is to know about Kylie Jenner’s dogs, including the names, ages, and how many she has, we’ve done all the digging. We also spoke to vet Dr Hannah Godfrey, who gave us insight into each breed, including the temperament of each dog and whether they make good pets.

How many dogs does Kylie Jenner have?

It's a very good question! Over the years, Kylie has shared her home with a number of dogs, so it can be hard to keep tabs on how many pooches the reality TV star has adopted.

In 2023, the reality TV star and businesswoman confirmed that she is a pet parent to seven dogs. But fast forward two years, and it looks like this number could be closer to 13.

For starters, there's Norman and Bambi, who are perhaps Kylie’s most well-known pooches, as they even have their own Instagram account, aptly named Normie and Bambi Jenner. Despite the fact that this page hasn’t been updated since December 2017, the account has 313,000 followers (and counting).

Norman was Kylie’s first dog as she welcomed him into her home in the 2010s. Then Bambi joined the fur family shortly after and gave birth to their puppies, Harlie and Rosie.

Next to join the canine crew was Sophia, then Ernie, followed by Penny, who was a gift from Kylie’s former best friend, Jordyn Woods. Odie came next, then Wesley and Kevin, followed by Jack and Jill, who were introduced during a July 2023 episode of The Kardashians.

Then, in late November 2023, Kylie shared an adorable video of her latest fur family member, Moo Pants.

How old are Kylie Jenner’s dogs?

As hard as it is to keep up with the number of dogs Kylie plays pet parent to, it’s also tricky to track down the exact ages of each of her dogs.

But according to an article on DogTime, Norman is believed to be 10, Bambi and Sophia are thought to be nine, while Ernie, Penny, Rosie, Harlie, and Odie all share the same age of eight.

The same article states that Wesley is around five, Kevin is one year younger, and Jack and Jill are two. Moo Pants is the youngest at just one year old.

What types of dogs does Kylie Jenner have?

Going by images and videos shared of Kylie’s dogs, the reality TV star and businesswoman has a penchant for two dog breeds in particular — this includes dachshunds and Italian greyhounds.

That’s because Norman, Bambi, Sophia, Rosie, Harlie, Kevin, Jack, and Jill are believed to be Italian greyhounds. While Penny, Ernie, Odie, and Moo Pants are said to be dachshunds. Kylie took to her Instagram stories in 2019 to introduce Wesley, stating that she believes him to be a dachshund and chihuahua mix.

An Italian greyhound often gets referred to as a velcro dog breed, as this long-limbed pooch likes to stick by their pet parent’s side. They are also known (and loved) for being one of the calmest dog breeds with a relaxed temperament. And this is characteristic that Dr. Hannah Godfrey can vouch for.

“I don’t see many Italian Greyhounds, which means it’s a real treat when I do meet one,” the vet says. “These little dogs can be quite nervous and unsure, so they can be quite clingy and reliant on their owner. However, they’re incredibly loving and affectionate, and although they take some time to warm up, once they feel comfortable with you, they’re also playful.”

Due to the fact that Italian Greyhounds love spending time with their owners, these pooches are best suited to families where you won’t have to leave them on their own much.

“They don’t bark much, they don’t need a huge amount of exercise, and they’re relatively easy to train,” Dr Godfrey adds. “Their short, sleek fur also means they require very little grooming. However, they may not be suitable for young children, as they can be quite sensitive.”

Whereas a dachshund, which is Kylie’s other much-loved dog breed, is the complete opposite – and this is something all dachshund owners will know.

“Compared to Italian Greyhounds, dachshunds are pretty outgoing and brave,” highlights Dr Godfrey. “They’re affectionate and playful, but can be very vocal, particularly in the home or around other dogs.

“I’ve met lots of dachshunds who have been quite happy to be carried by their owner and enjoy the reassurance of being close to them," the vet continues. "However, I also know plenty of dachshunds who are quite independent and lead the way when out on a walk.”

Wondering if you should adopt a dachshund? The good news is that these small fur-friends can make excellent pets as they’re friendly, playful, and affectionate.

“However, they do bark a lot, so training is important,” flags Dr Godfrey. “They can also be quite defensive around other dogs and children, so it’s important to socialize them well and supervise them closely. Aside from their personality, Dachshunds are also prone to spinal problems, which can be serious, so it’s important to exercise them appropriately and look out for signs of any problems.”

That said, thankfully for Kylie, both of these dog breeds can live in perfect harmony with one another.

“A dachshund and an Italian Greyhound could be a good match since the quieter nature of the Italian Greyhound means they’re less likely to be encouraged to bark – two vocal dogs together can have very noisy consequences,” says Dr Godfrey. “They also require a similar amount of exercise and grooming, so their lifestyles fit well together.”

How much are Kylie Jenner’s dogs worth?

If there’s one thing we know, it’s that you can’t put a price on love – and the same goes for Kylie Jenner’s loveable fur friends.

No confirmed information has been published about how much Kylie’s dogs have set her back by. But what we do know is that to adopt a dachshund, you can expect to pay anywhere between $300 and $600. While adopting an Italian Greyhound can set you back roughly $500 to $750.
