Kylie Jenner’s beauty brand shares its percentage of black employees to support Pull Up For Change

Kylie Cosmetics has vowed to make diversity an integral part of the company’s focus as it revealed the percentage of black people that it employs.

The company, which was founded by reality TV star, Kylie Jenner, in 2014, shared details about its staff as part of the Pull Up For Change challenge. Posting on Instagram, Kylie Cosmetics noted that its employees are 13% black, 47% black, indigenous and people of color and 53% white.

“Kylie Cosmetics is here for Pull Up for Change, for our team, and for the black community,” the company wrote, noting that 100% of its employees are women-identifying.

“We are proud of the diversity within our company, with a team of Black, White, Asian, Native American, Hispanic and Middle Eastern women. As our team grows we commit to a continued focus on ethnic diversity in the workplace and the recruitment of black employees. The numbers you see above represent the people at our Kylie Cosmetics/Kylie Skin HQ.”

Additionally, Kylie Cosmetics noted that its leadership team consists of Kylie Jenner and her mother, Kris Jenner, before thanking the Pull Up For Change initiative.

The campaign was started last week by Sharon Chuter, founder and CEO of UOMA Beauty, in the wake of George Floyd's death and Instagram’s Blackout Tuesday.

“If the whole world is going to come together and say Black lives matter, then let’s make Black lives matter,” Chuter told Forbes. “Let’s stop talking about it. Talk is cheap. You can’t say Black lives matter if you don’t have any Black employees in your office.”

Chuter then called for consumer brands (mainly in the beauty industry) to disclose the number of black employees at their companies, as well as the level of their position.
