Eva Mendes is one of the latest stars to join the wave of no make-up selfies on Instagram, captioning her post “I just can’t do it. I just can’t seriously take a selfie. So for those who’ve asked, here you go and I’m sorry. And for the others who never asked for this, I’m sorry too,” with the hashtag #NoFilterNoPersonality.
Her no make-up look was praised by her followers.
“Pretty skin!!!” Liv Tyler commented under the post, with a row of heart eye emojis. Others simply admired Eva's natural look.

Although celebrities have access to skincare products and beauty procedures which make going without makeup a little easier - eyelash extensions, regular facials and skin creams which cost hundreds of dollars - the wave of no make-up selfies is a refreshing antidote to the layers and contouring you see all over social media.
Some influencers are also admitting that their 'natural beauty' has a little extra help. When Gina Shkeda was praised by a young follower for her natural look she wrote back to point out she has microbladed eyebrows, lash extensions and lip injections, writing "I don't even look like this."
