Kylie Jenner breaks silence in impassioned post about George Floyd's death after backlash

Kylie Jenner has finally spoken out on George Floyd's death after fans slammed her silence.

Harrowing scenes showed handcuffed George, a black man, saying he couldn't breathe while white officer Derek Chavin pressed his knee down onto his neck.

He died shortly after the arrest.

Kylie faced the wrath of her fans when she said nothing about George's death on social media while other celebrities were using their status to speak out about racial injustice.

The make-up mogul, 22, shared an impassioned post about injustice as she said she was unable to get George out of her mind.

In an impassioned speech, the mother-of-one declared America was dealing with two pandemics and she urged people to recognise racism was one of them.

Her appropriate accompanying picture was a quote from Martin Luther King, Jr. which read: "There comes a time when silence is betrayal."

In a lengthy post, she said: "Since watching the most devastating and completely heartbreaking video showing the murder of George Floyd earlier this week I haven’t been able to get his face and his words out of my mind.

"I’ll never personally experience the pain and fear that many black people around the country go through every day but I know nobody should have to live in fear and nobody deserves a death like George Floyd and too many others.

"Speaking up is long overdue for the rest of us. we’re currently dealing with two horrific pandemics in our country, and we can’t sit back and ignore the fact that racism is one of them."

Kylie opened up about her fears for her daughter Stormi against racial injustice as she hoped for a better future.

The billionaire urged her fans to keep the conversation going and never let George be forgotten to bring about change in the world.

In her closing words to her 178million followers, Kylie shared her heartbreak over George's death.

She added: "I fear for my daughter and I hope for a better future for her. My heart breaks for George Floyd’s family and friends. Don’t let his name be forgotten.

"Keep sharing, keep watching, keep speaking out, because it’s the only way we can come together to help bring this much needed change and awareness. Rest In Peace, George Floyd."
