Kylian Mbappe’s parents ‘disagree’ over transfer plans as PSG star 'identifies option'

Kylian Mbappe’s parents are said to have made it clear that they want the French forward to renew his contract with Paris Saint-Germain rather than moving to Real Madrid.

The striker is out of contract at the Parc des Princes at the end of the season and it looked like a foregone conclusion that he would be heading to Madrid when the deal expired. However, PSG are attempting to shoot one last shot at convincing the Ballon d’Or winner in waiting to remain with them for the next two years.

The 23-year-old has agreed on a financial package to join Los Blancos in the summer, but PSG are willing to offer him a £21million net annual salary and £150m signing-on fee to stay at the club, says Spanish football expert Guillem Balague. If he signed that contract, his parents – who are also his representatives – will pocket £42m from the club as commission.

But rather than signing the lucrative deal, Mbappe wants to talk to Madrid about renegotiating the deal he has in place with them as it is his ‘preferred destination’. But Mbappe’s parents ‘disagree’ on what his next move should be.

Balague reports that despite PSG throwing the cash at the former Monaco star, Madrid are relaxed about the situation due to how their interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland. And the Santiago Bernabeu outfit’s decision to sign Mbappe over Haaland has been given the seal of approval from Barcelona defender Dani Alves.

Speaking to Diario Sport, he said: “I would not throw everything at Haaland. Sincerely, I wouldn’t spend a lot of money on him. On Mbappe, yes, but Haaland no. I’m playing at sporting director here, but I’d bet on Mbappe first. He seems more complete in every aspect. If you are going to make a huge investment, you have to do it on the best. If it was up to me, I’d bet on Mbappe.”

Mbappe has scored 17 goals and assisted 13 in 27 Ligue 1 appearances for PSG this season, impressing in the Champions League too and confirming that he is already one of the best players in the world. Speaking to talkSPORT with Lord Ping, Emmanuel Petit spoke on the similarities between Mbappe and Arsenal ’s Bukayo Saka in how they are targeted by the opposition.

The ex-France international said: “When you look at Saka with Arsenal, he was complaining about protection from referees and it’s the same with Mbappe in France and everywhere he goes. The opponents always try to pull him down, try to put a physical impact all the time but you cannot catch him, he’s like a fish! Like fishing with your hands, it’s impossible to catch him.

“This guy is so fast you have no idea. I was so close to him sometimes during games [as a pundit] and the quality of his feet, the turning of his feet are phenomenal. When I look at Salah and Mane at Liverpool, they’ve got pace, they are fast, they’ve got the velocity and are fit all the time. But Mbappe, there are few players in the world who can reproduce the sprints he’s doing with high intensity.”
