Kylian Mbappe praises Jurgen Klopp and "winning machine" Liverpool amid transfer interest

Kylian Mbappe has lavished praise on Jurgen Klopp as speculation over the Paris Saint-Germain striker’s future continues.

Real Madrid and Liverpool have both been linked with a move for Mbappe while PSG are trying to convince him to extend his contract beyond the summer of 2022.

And as he kicks his heels after the curtailment of the French domestic season, Mbappe paid tribute to Liverpool’s remarkable Premier League campaign and to Klopp in particular.

The 21-year-old World Cup winner said: “This season, Liverpool have been a machine in the Premier League.

“They have made winning look easy but the truth is that it is never easy.

“Performances like they have been having don’t just happen.

“To be as ruthless as they have been would come from lots of hard work in training and from having a very good manager.”

Klopp spoke to the French forward’s representatives way back in the summer of 2017 but Mbappe moved from Monaco to PSG instead.

Klopp remains a big fan and Liverpool would now be a bigger draw than they were three years ago.

Last November, Klopp said he could “not see any club at the moment who can buy Kylian Mbappe from PSG.”

However, the football transfer landscape will be altered dramatically by the Covid-19 pandemic and Klopp did also underline his admiration for Mbappe in that interview six months ago.

He said: “From a sporting point of view, there are not a lot of reasons not to sign him … what a player he is!”
