Kylian Mbappe opted against asking Lionel Messi to swap shirts after PSG beat Barcelona

Kylian Mbappe had the pick of the shirts after Paris Saint-Germain beat Barcelona 5-2 on aggregate in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

So you would think the French World Cup winner would have made a beeline for Lionel Messi after the final whistle to swap shirts with the Barcelona legend.

But Mbappe opted against approaching Messi for his shirt and instead asked Barcelona youngster Pedri for his jersey.

Pedri played 78 minutes for Barcelona on Wednesday night before he was replaced by Miralem Pjanic.

He made his way back onto the pitch after the game and was approached by Mbappe, who had already removed his PSG jersey.

The duo hugged and spoke to each other for a few seconds before Mbappe asked the 18-year-old for his shirt.

Pedri responded by unzipping his jacket and swapping tops with the Frenchman.

Paris Saint-Germain went into the second leg of the last-16 Champions League tie with a commanding lead after beating Barcelona 4-1 away from home.

And it was the Ligue 1 giants who took the lead in the second leg, with Mbappe firing home a penalty on the half-hour mark.

Messi reduced the deficit just seven minutes later with a sensational long-range strike, but the Argentine missed the opportunity to put Barcelona ahead on the night when he had a penalty saved by Keylor Navas.
