Kylian Mbappe made perfect prediction to Mauricio Pochettino before destroying Barcelona

Kylian Mbappe got it spot on both before and during Paris Saint-Germain's 4-1 hammering of Barcelona in the Champions League.

The French forward plundered a hat-trick as Barca were humbled in their own back yard, even after they took the lead through a Lionel Messi penalty.

It was there that the World Cup winner took over though, equalising before half-time and going on to complete his treble with two second half goals either side of a header from Everton loanee Moise Kean.

While Mbappe's undoubted star talent has been evident for a while now, many are looking at Tuesday's virtuoso display as the final confirmation that the forward has arrived on the world stage, and that he is set to overtake Messi at the very summit of the game.

His PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino was delighted with Mbappe's display, and revealed that he had made a prediction about the game to him to night before the match.

"Yesterday, at training, he asked me how many times I had won at the Camp Nou," said Pochettino, who managed both Barcelona's city rivals Espanyol and Tottenham at the famous old stadium.

"Once, I told him.

"He replied to me: tomorrow, we are going to win a second time. He is a top player."

Speculation continues to surround Mbappe's future, with the forward's PSG contract running out in 2022.

He stopped short of making any promises after the game though, telling RMC: "It would be stupid to decide my future on a single match.

"The truth, is that it is about reflecting for the long term. I have always said that I am happy here. This sort of match makes me even happier."
