Kylian Mbappe linked with sensational Liverpool move after leaving Paris Saint-Germain 'very angry'

Pre-season for Liverpool begins in a matter of weeks and with Alexis Mac Allister already through the door, the clamour continues for the next addition at Anfield.

The Reds primary focus this summer is reinforcing their midfield and as a result, plenty of options have been mooted with moves to Merseyside. Some of which are credible and some not so. It hasn't stopped players in other positions being linked with joining Jurgen Klopp's side.

What is known is the recruitment net has been cast out with Khephren Thuram, Manu Kone, Romeo Lavia, Gabri Veiga and Ryan Gravenberch among the players shortlisted. All of them are currently vying to lead their respective countries to U21 European Championships success.

A busy summer awaits for player eyeing moves away from their current clubs and for Premier League outfits looking to acquire their main targets ahead of the upcoming campaign. Below is the round-up of players mooted with Liverpool switches.

Kylian Mbappe

Liverpool are reportedly willing to pay more than €300m (£257m) to end Kylian Mbappe's stay at Paris Saint-Germain, according to FIFA agent Marco Kirdemir.

The intermediary has been speaking to Spanish outlet Radio Marca and has claimed Qatari officials are unhappy after news came to light that the French star opted against signing a new deal beyond 2024. Mbappe has since opened up about the ongoing saga surrounding his future at the Parc des Princes in a blunt manner, he told reporters earlier this month: "What influence does the president have? On my career today, in 2023, none.

"He wants me to stay in Paris, my objective is to stay. We're on the same wavelength. Am I going to leave PSG? I've already answered, I've said that my objective is to stay at PSG, that's my only option at the moment. I'm ready to come back when preseason resumes.

"I didn't think a letter killed anyone or that I had offended anyone."

However, it hasn't deterred reports of a rift in Paris. As a result, it has been suggested that Liverpool are willing to pay in excess of £250m for the attacker.

"They told me that they are very angry. They wanted and were confident that he was going to renew. The Emir is very upset," Kademir began. "Liverpool is competing with Real Madrid and wants to pay a fortune for Mbappé, that fortune he speaks of would be around 300 million."

Question marks surround the claim from the agent after former Liverpool director of research Ian Graham admitted that the 2022 World Cup Golden Boot winner is 'financially out of the Reds league'.

He revealed: "Any statistical model will tell you that Kylian Mbappe is the best player in Europe at the moment. But unfortunately, financially, he’s out of Liverpool’s league. We’re looking for the best-performing players per pound."

Federico Chiesa

Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport have reported that Liverpool are among four Premier League clubs looking to sign Juventus attacker Federico Chiesa.

Other European clubs, namely Bayern Munich and PSG, are monitoring the Italian's situation in Turin as he is no longer at the "centre" of plans with the Serie A giants.

Due to the economic situation with Massimiliano Allegri's side following their failure to secure Champions League qualification, they're looking to offload some of their prospects in order to free up their wage budget.

And therefore, Chiesa finds his career with the club at a crossroads. The outlet claims Juventus are willing to listen to offers of around €60m (£51.4m)

Romeo Lavia

Liverpool are admirers of 19-year-old Belgian midfielder, Romeo Lavia, as the ECHO has previously revealed and now it has been suggested that the Reds have enquired over the situation at Southampton.

The Daily Mail have reported that the Reds have sounded out the Hampshire-based club over a possible deal for the player.

Following his move from Manchester City, he enjoyed a fruitful debut season at St Mary's despite the Saints suffering relegation to the Championship.

As a result of finishing rock bottom in the English top-flight, the futures of the prized assets for incoming manager Russell Martin to deal with remain in doubt.

The ECHO reported yesterday that enquiries are part of the due diligence from the club but sources have dismissed speculation that Liverpool that talks are underway for Lavia and Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga.

Jeremy Doku

Liverpool reportedly have a strong interest in Stade Rennais winger Jeremy Doku, according to Mohamed Toubache-Ter.

The Reds have been linked with the Belgian attacker in the past with reports suggesting he was close to an Anfield move during his formative years with Belgium giants Anderlecht. Three years on, it has been reported that interest in the attacker has been reignited.

While there could be interest in the 21-year-old, a pursuit of the winger this summer seems unlikely. The ECHO reported this month that there is currently no reason to strengthen their forward line with Cody Gakpo lined up to replace the departing Roberto Firmino.

The Reds are keen not to block the progress of promising winger Ben Doak.

Khephren Thuram

Liverpool's task of acquiring OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram could be made harder as local French media outlet Sports Zone, via Get French Football News Now, suggest that the club want to retain the U21 international's services for another year.

It has been claimed that the 22-year-old doesn't want to address his club future until the end of the European Championships which are due to conclude next month.

The ECHO reported this month that the Reds have a firm interest in Thuram, as well as national teammate Manu Kone and Gabri Veiga of Celta Vigo being looked at.

Sports Zone claim that the Reds have to convince the Ligue 1 side this summer and "only a very good offer" will persuade them to let the midfielder go after their initial talks 'failed'.
