Kylian Mbappe had 'two hour talk' with Liverpool owner John Henry on private jet

Liverpool reportedly tried their utmost to convince Kylian Mbappe to join the club in the summer of 2017.

Back then, Mbappe was set to leave Monaco and teams all over Europe were naturally vying for his signature.

Jurgen Klopp apparently spoke to the French superstar at the time.

And FSG chief John W. Henry, the principal owner at Anfield, reportedly took the player's family on a private jet tour around Nice bay for a couple of hours while having a chat.

In the end, the attacker decided to stay in Ligue 1 and joined champions Paris Saint-Germain on a five-year deal.

Now, his contract is set to expire next year and he is yet to come to a new agreement at the Parc des Princes.

Both Liverpool and Real Madrid have been strongly linked with interest in the forward.

Last season, Mbappe talked up Liverpool and Klopp while the 22-year-old has also refused to commit his future to PSG - stating he was "reflecting for the long-term" after scoring a hat-trick against Barcelona in the Champions League last-16 and being asked about his future.

L’Equipe say, via SportWitness, that Henry "left a great impression" on the Mbappe family back in 2017 and the media outlet believe it is only Liverpool or Real Madrid who could tempt him to sign.

They also report that Madrid are the player's "childhood dream" but PSG are "dreaming" of keeping Mbappe and Neymar, who will also be out of contract next summer, at the club.

Last year, Mbappe applauded the "ruthless" football on show at Anfield and hailed Klopp for his management.

"Liverpool have been a machine in the Premier League," he said.

"They have made winning look easy but the truth is that it is never easy. Performances like they have been having don’t just happen.

"To be as ruthless as they have been would come from lots of hard work in training and from having a very good manager."
