Kylian Mbappe gives rapid response to transfer question as PSG exit clause emerges

Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe has revealed that he would only consider signing for one Italian club - reigning Serie A champions AC Milan - as doubts over his future continue to rise.

The French sensation continues to be linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes despite only committing his future to the club less than 12 months ago. European champions Real Madrid were strongly linked with a swoop, whilst Liverpool were also named as admirers.

Despite it appearing that a move to Spain was edging near, Mbappe performed a dramatic U-turn by putting pen to paper on a new deal with PSG until 2025. Now, he has revealed one club that he would consider should he leave his current employers.

The 2018 World Cup winner was approached by a fan during the glitzy FIFA Best Awards in Paris on Monday and asked if he would move to Italy. He then replied: “If I come [to Serie A], it's only AC Milan.”

It is not the first time that Mbappe has revealed his affection for the reigning Serie A champions. The striker was the topic of an interview with Figaro Live as a child where he was donning an AC Milan shirt.

Meanwhile, he confirmed that he was a fan of the Italian giants to Gazzetta dello Sport despite having been born in the French capital. Speaking last year, he said: “My connection with Milan is special.

“As a child, I had an Italian nanny and I spent a lot of time with her family, all Milan fans. So, thanks to them, I also cheered for the ‘Rossoneri’ and watched a lot of Milan games.”

Mbappe has a decision to make on his future sooner rather than later. According to French outlet L’Equipe, the striker’s new contract is actually set to expire in 2024 instead of the originally reported 2025.

There is an option written into that deal that would see his contract extended by a further year. A deadline of the end of June has been set for that to be activated, meaning that the 24-year-old has just a matter of months to come to a decision.

Should he decide not extend his PSG contract, he could potentially start negotiating a move away from the French capital as early as next January. It remains to be seen who would be interested but Mbappe is unlikely to be low on suitors after continuing his excellent form in Ligue 1 this season.

He has 29 goals in all competitions this term, whilst he was also on the scoresheet on eight occasions in what was a stunning World Cup campaign. That form was good enough to see Mbappe named in the FIFPRO Men’s World XI alongside PSG colleague Lionel Messi.
