Kylian Mbappe drops major transfer hint as Liverpool could make millions from Euro 2020 star

Here is your Liverpool morning digest for Sunday, June 13.

Major Kylian Mbappe transfer admission

Kylian Mbappe has admitted his future might lie away from Paris Saint-Germain amid reported interest from Liverpool.

The Reds continue to be tentatively linked with a move for the striker, who is currently with the France national team for this summer’s European Championships.

As well as Liverpool, Real Madrid are the other club who have been persistently linked with Mbappe’s services, but the future of the forward remains up in the air.

Earlier this month, PSG chairman and chief executive Nasser Al-Khelaifi said there was no chance that Mbappe would leave the Ligue 1 club this summer or any time afterwards.

"I will be clear: Kylian will be staying in Paris," Al-Khelaifi told L’Equipe. "We are never going to sell him, and he will never leave for free.

“I never give details to the press about ongoing negotiations. All I can say is that it is coming along nicely.

"I hope that we will find a common ground. It is Paris, Kylian's country and he has a mission: not just to be a football player, but to promote the French league, his country and the capital city."

Now that Mbappe is with his country for the Euros, he has spoken about his future to local press and appears to cast doubt on whether he will remain a PSG player in the long term.

“I have to make the right decision, which is difficult, and give myself every chance to decide well,” Mbappe is quoted telling France Football.

“I am in a place where I like myself, feel good. But is it the best place for me? I don't have the answer yet”.

Ex-Liverpool player could make the club millions

Liverpool bosses will be keeping a close eye on Euro 2020 for a number of reasons this summer following the opening of the latest transfer window earlier this month.

Reds scouts will be scouring the market for potential transfer targets, while Jurgen Klopp will be hoping his senior stars get through the tournament injury-free ahead of his side’s return for pre-season training next month.

Meanwhile, club bosses will also have fingers crossed that the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri and Harry Wilson perform well for Switzerland and Wales respectively to enhance their transfer values ahead of potential moves this summer.

But it is not just current Liverpool players who could help boost the Reds’ warchest this close-season.

Danny Ward left Anfield to sign for Leicester City in a £12.5m move back in the summer of 2018 as Liverpool brought in Alisson to replace Loris Karius as the club’s new first-choice goalkeeper.

Hoping his move would open the door to first team football, the Welshman has ultimately found himself behind Kasper Schmeichel in the pecking order at the King Power Stadium.

Yet to make his Premier League debut in his three seasons with the East Midlands club, the 27-year-old has been limited to 14 appearances for the Foxes.

However, he has won 10 international caps for Wales since leaving Liverpool and his international exploits could help earn the Reds an unexpected windfall.
