Kylian Mbappe and the 'private' PSG talks as they brace themselves for Liverpool transfer move

In-demand Kylian Mbappe has held talks over his Paris-Saint Germain future as Liverpool continue to watch.

The Reds have been linked with the French star for two years, meanwhile Real Madrid president Florentino Perez remains infatuated with the France World Cup winner.

Mbappe has held "private conversations" with PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino who admits he could face losing the world superstar on a free next summer.

The manager was asked to confirm rumours of the 22-year-old choosing not to extend his current deal.

The Argentine, in a an interview with Le Parisien, replied: “Did Mbappe tell me he won't extend? These are private conversations.

"But in no case did Kylian talk to me about that. Can we imagine him leaving for free? I don't use imagination.

"The only thing that is clear is that he has one year left on his contract and we will treat him like a player with five years remaining on his contract."

Transfer suitors may still have to pay a reported price tag of €200million if Mbappe were to leave this summer, but if no extension is agreed he could be snapped up for nothing next year.

However, even if this year's fee is outwith the budget of Klopp's side, Liverpool could be tempted to swoop in next summer with a free transfer on the cards.

It would also strongly depend on the Mbappe's salary demands - which might not be too much of an issue as some of Europe's elite monitor his situation.
