Kyler Murray, who Dolphins could select in draft – chooses football over baseball

Kyler Murray, who has been one of the most talked about prospects in recent memory, finally made a decision between baseball and football.

On Monday afternoon, Murray posted a message on Twitter stating he was choosing football over baseball.

“Moving forward, I am firmly and fully committing my life and time becoming an NFL quarterback,” Murray said in the statement.

“Football has been my love and my passion my entire life. I was raised to play QB, and I very much look forward to dedicating 100 percent of myself to being the best QB possible and winning NFL championships. I have started an extensive training program to further prepare myself for the upcoming NFL workouts and interviews. I eagerly await the opportunity to continue to prove NFL decision-makers that I am the franchise QB in this draft.”

Last year, the Oakland Athletics chose Murray in the first round at pick No. 9 overall. He was expected to report to the Athletics training camp starting on Feb. 11, but obviously, that will not be the case.

Murray, who won the 2018 Heisman Trophy has been linked to the Dolphins as ESPN’s Todd McShay the team selecting Murray at pick No. 13 overall. He could be the first player to be drafted in both the MLB and NFL drafts.

Although the Dolphins may or may not select Murray in the first round, they will have a need at the quarterback position. The Dolphins are expected to release veteran Ryan Tannehill before the start of the new league year in March.

Last season for the Oklahoma Sooners, Murray threw for 4,361 yards, 42 touchdowns against seven interceptions. The Sooners would go on to win the Big 12 as they lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Orange Bowl in the National Semifinals.
