Kyler Murray ‘through the roof’ with DeAndre Hopkins trade

It is safe to say that the Arizona Cardinals are happy about the trade they agreed to with the Houston Texans to acquire receiver DeAndre Hopkins. In the deal, they send running back David Johnson, this year’s second-round pick and a 2021 fourth-round pick. They receive Hopkins and a fourth-round pick in this coming draft.

Hopkins is an All-Pro and has caught over 95 passes in three straight years.

As expected, the reactions by the organization are extremely positive, as noted in Darren Urban’s article on the official team site.

Head coach Kliff Kingsbury noted the excitement of quarterback Kyler Murray.

“He’s through the roof,” Kingsbury said. “He’s excited, and he can’t wait to get back and get things rolling.”

He should be excited. Based on how free agency has gone, Murray is swapping Hopkins for departed receivers Pharoh Cooper and Damiere Byrd.

While Byrd and Cooper both made plays and combined for 57 catches, Hopkins is on a completely different level.

Murray will now have a trio of receivers in Hopkins, Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk. That is a lot of talent.
