While the Arizona Cardinals are rumored to be on their way to drafting Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray first overall in the 2019 NFL draft, typically teams try and draft the best player available with their picks. If the Cardinals want to do that, then Murray isn’t that guy, at least according to sister site Draft Wire’s managing editor Luke Easterling.
He updated his big board and Murray not only is not the No. 1 prospect, he isn’t even in the top five. In fact, he isn’t even the top quarterback.
His top 10 looks like this:
- Ohio State EDGE Nick Bosa
- Alabama DT Quinnen Williams
- Houston DT Ed Oliver
- Kentucky EDGE Josh Allen
- Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins
- Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray
- Florida State EDGE Brian Burns
- LSU LB Devin White
- Florida OT Jawaan Taylor
- Clemson EDGE Clelin Ferrell
If the Cardinals take Murray, they are taking a player who might fit new coach Kliff Kingsbury’s offense but in this big board Haskins is still the better QB prospect.
It would be interesting to see the Cardinals move on from Josh Rosen, a player they were very high on all last year, and pass on top defensive players in this draft, only to start over with a new quarterback and have to settle on lesser defensive talent.
If the Cardinals are truly looking to draft the best player, that would be Bosa at the top of the draft, at least according to Easterling.
