Kyler Murray’s trip to Redskins canceled

After the Arizona Cardinals met with Oklahoma quarterback prospect Kyler Murray, he also scheduled meetings with other teams. One such meeting did not make sense for a player largely expected to be selected with the first overall pick in the draft next week.

Murray was scheduled to meet with the Washington Redskins, who have the 15th overall pick.

That meeting raised questions about the likelihood of the Cardinals taking him first overall. After all, why would he waste his time with the Redskins if he knew he was going to be a Cardinal?

That meeting is now reportedly off, according to NFL Network’s Steve Wyche.

This cancellation now suggests that perhaps he got the assurance he was seeking from a team like the Cardinals or perhaps the Oakland Raiders, who have the fourth pick in the draft.

The actual draft is not until next Thursday so the saga will end soon enough.

Most project Murray to land with the Cardinals, who will then need to trade last year’s first-round pick, quarterback Josh Rosen. Washington is rumored to have interest in Rosen as well.
