Kyle Walker tweet: Manchester City full-back deletes Harry Maguire post mocking Liverpool

Manchester City full-back Kyle Walker has deleted a tweet which poked fun at Liverpool for failing to beat Leicester City on Wednesday night.

Harry Maguire’s equaliser on the stroke of half time held Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at Anfield from opening up a significant gap over City at the top of the Premier League table.

City’s surprise 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United the previous evening handed Jurgen Klopp’s side an opportunity to open up a seven-point gap in the title race.

However, after Maguire cancelled out Sadio Mané’s third-minute opener, Liverpool could only extend their lead to five points.

On Thursday afternoon, Walker tweeted a picture of Maguire talking to his partner Fern Hawkins with the caption: “So basically they thought they were gonna go 7 points ahead...”

Walker deleted the tweet shortly after and it is not the first time that the 28-year-old has been forced to remove a social media post this season.

In November, after City’s 3-1 derby victory over Manchester United, Walker posted a poem celebrating his side’s victory.

“Our opponent was red / We heard the away fans boo / We’re twelve points ahead / And just like violets, Manchester is blue,” he wrote. The tweet was also deleted.

Defending champions City can close the gap at the top of the table to two points on Sunday when they play Arsenal at the Etihad.

Leaders Liverpool only play on Monday night, with Klopp’s side facing a trip to West Ham United.
