Kyle Walker reveals why he held three-year grudge against Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Kyle Walker has revealed how he took Dominic Calvert-Lewin to task over his first and only red card for Manchester City three years after the incident took place.

Walker saw red for an alleged elbow on Calvert-Lewin during a feisty 1-1 draw at the Etihad back in August 2017.

After the game, Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville claimed referee Bobby Madley had been conned by the Blues forward into sending the defender off.

That was because the former Manchester United defender was quick to point out that Walker had just brushed Calvert-Lewin with his arm, who had gone down clutching his head.

And now speaking about the incident, Walker has revealed that not only did he hold a grudge against Calvert-Lewin for more than three years.

But he also opted to confront the Everton forward about the incident when the pair were called up for England last year.

“Yes I do, my first home game, against Everton,” the former Tottenham defender said when asked if he remembered his first red card for City.

“I thought it was very harsh. I had a word with Calvert-Lewin on this England trip, to be fair.

"It was still playing in my mind, but the decision was made and we got the draw, which was probably a good result in the end.”

While speaking after the game, City boss Pep Guardiola refused to discuss Walker's red card when asked about it.
