Kyle Walker posts training boost as Man City get injury update on four players

Kyle Walker looked in high spirits as he returned to Manchester City training on Wednesday after appearing to sit out Tuesday's session.

Right-back Walker was part of the City side who slipped up against Tottenham, having missed the previous Champions League win at Sporting through suspension. He played the full 90 minutes, but was absent from training pictures and videos posted by City as the Blues returned to training on Tuesday.

23 players were seen training, with Walker joining Jack Grealish, Gabriel Jesus, Zack Steffen and Cole Palmer in being absent. Pep Guardiola said previously that Grealish and Jesus were hopefully close to returns before the Spurs game, but they remained away from the main training squad.

If Walker was to join the injured players, it would place more pressure on Joao Cancelo, and potentially give City a dilemma for the Champions League second leg against Sporting in a fortnight.

However, the England international has since posted on social media that he was back in training on Wednesday to hand City a boost ahead of Saturday's trip to Everton.

He posted a video of him laughing and said: "I’ve literally become an emoji…"

Also spotted in training this week were youngsters Ciaren Slicker, Luke Mbete, Romeo Lavia, Sam Edozie, James McAtee, Kayky and Liam Delap.

Edozie continues his return from injury after a period on the sidelines, making a re-appearance in senior training last week. City will train on Thursday and Friday, with Guardiola set to give an update when he speaks to reporters on Friday.

Players spotted in training this week: Ederson, Carson, Slicker, Dias, Ake, Stones, Laporte, Zinchenko, Cancelo, Walker (*not seen on Tuesday), Mbete, Fernandinho, Rodri, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Lavia, Bernardo, Foden, Mahrez, Sterling, McAtee, Edozie, Kayky, Delap.
