Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed that he is "optimistic" that Kyle Walker-Peters will join the club before the end of the month.
A product of Tottenham's academy, the right-back has been a part of the Spurs squad over the past couple of seasons but chances have been limited in the first team for him so far this campaign.
Kieran Trippier's summer exit to Atletico Madrid saw the youngster get his chance in the starting XI at the beginning of the season as he played in the Lilywhites' first three games.
However, an injury picked up in the third match against Newcastle United proved incredibly costly as he has yet to take to the pitch in the league since the 1-0 defeat at the end of August.
Since then Walker-Peters has only made two appearances for Spurs, with his last coming in the Champions League dead rubber against Bayern Munich in December.
Amid talk of a switch across the capital to join the Eagles, Hodgson provided an update on the move as he looks to bring in a new right-back to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka who departed in the summer.
"I know the club is working hard and I am optimistic and hopeful that we will be able to bring Kyle in," he told reporters at Palace's training ground.
"I think he is a very talented player and I think we would benefit from his services."
Jose Mourinho was also asked about Walker-Peters at his pre-match press conference at Hotspur Way and he has said that he will be waiting for news on a deal from chairman Daniel Levy.
"If he [Hodgson] says that, I'm not going to deny it," said the Spurs head coach. "I will wait for news from my boss.
"It's good that Roy is open about it and isn't trying to hide."
