Kyle Walker-Peters has proved a point to Jose Mourinho and defender makes big Arsenal impression

It was a very busy summer at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in terms of incomings and outgoings.

While all the focus was on those coming in as Jose Mourinho added seven new faces to his squad, some notable names departed N17 as they moved onto pastures new.

Jan Vertonghen's eight-year stay in north London came to an end as he joined Benfica on a free transfer after his contract had expired, with Kyle Walker-Peters also departing after previously working his way through Tottenham's academy to the first team.

But how are those who departed the club ahead of the new season currently getting on? football.london takes a look.

Kyle Walker-Peters (Southampton)

Taking his chance on loan at St Mary's following the Premier League restart in June, Walker-Peters made his move to Southampton permanent in the summer.

He's continued to go from strength to strength under Ralph Hasenhuttl and he's subsequently caught the eye in Saints' strong start to the season.

The 23-year-old has played the full 90 minutes in all eight Premier League games this season, including Spurs' 5-2 win on the South Coast where he registered an assist for Danny Ings' opener.

Walker-Peters always needed a sustained run of league games, something he didn't get under Mourinho, to prove his worth and he's showing his former boss and Spurs that he has what it takes to be a big success in the top flight.

Jan Vertonghen (Benfica)

Vertonghen bid farewell to Spurs after eight years in the capital following the expiration of his contract at the end of the last campaign.

Amid rumours of a move to Italy, the experienced defender instead linked up with Benfica.

The 33-year-old has been a regular for his new side this season and so far has ten appearances to date, with a facial injury keeping him out of their league game against Farense.

Vertonghen could possibly come up against his former club in 2021 in the Europa League providing of course that Spurs and Benfica progress through to the knockout phase of the competition.

The Portuguese side are currently second in Group D but they are on the same points as leaders Rangers.

Michel Vorm (Retired)

Vorm had initially left Spurs in the summer of 2019 but was re-signed by Mauricio Pochettino last October due to the injury Hugo Lloris had sustained at Brighton.

Providing cover for Paulo Gazzaniga as he took his place between the sticks, the Dutchman's only appearance in 2019/20 came in the FA Cup penalty shootout defeat against Norwich City,

Vorm did depart once his short-term contract came to an end and last month he called time on his career at the age of 37.

Luke Amos (Queens Park Rangers)

Amos made his loan move at QPR permanent in the summer after impressing in west London.

Starting the season in Mark Warburton's starting XI, the youngster is unlikely to play again this term after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during the match against Bournemouth.

The injury has come as a major blow to the midfielder as he sustained the same injury but to his left knee two years ago during his time at Tottenham.

Jonathan Dinzeyi (Arsenal)

Released by Tottenham in the summer, young defender Dinzeyi has remained in north London after joining Arsenal.

The centre-back has linked up with the U23s and has so far played four games for the Gunners in Premier League 2.

An unused substitute last week against Gillingham in the Papa John's Trophy with Calum Chambers and William Saliba instead starting, Dinzeyi will be hoping to up his game time over the coming months as he eyes a future place in Mikel Arteta's squad.

He's certainly doing something right at present as he was last week involved in a first-team training session.

Armando Shashoua - Atletico Baleares

Moving to Atletico Baleares on loan at the start of the year, Shashoua made his move permanent in the summer.

The 20-year-old midfielder has appeared in three of his team's league games this year but he has been utilised off the bench in all three.

Released players

Tariq Hinds, Rayan Clarke and Phoenix Patterson were all released by Spurs in the summer and have yet to find a new club.

Maxwell Statham and Maximus Tainio were also let go but have since joined Watford and FC Haka respectively.

Tainio has so far made 16 appearances for his new club and has one assist to his name.
