Kyle Walker-Peters has joined Southampton on loan for the remainder of the 2019/20 season.
The 22-year-old started the campaign as Tottenham's right-back but the injury he sustained against Newcastle United back in August proved crucial to his chances of making the position his own.
Walker-Peters only featured in two more games for Spurs after the 1-0 defeat against the Magpies, with his last appearance coming in the Champions League dead rubber against Bayern Munich in December.
The England U21 international has just not been able to force his way into Jose Mourinho's matchday squad and a move to the south coast will now give him the chance to get some much-needed minutes in the tank.
Speaking to Southampton's official website about his loan move to St Mary's, the youngster opened up on his hopes over the remaining months and the role Ralph Hasenhuttl played in his loan move.
"I'm looking to use this opportunity to improve as a football player, but most importantly win games here, and show the manager he made the right decision in bringing me here, and also show the fans that," he said.
"I'm just grateful for the opportunity I've been given by the manager and the club. I come here looking to help the club improve and improve myself. I just want to win as many games as possible and enjoy playing football.
"I had a chat with the manager and he assured me I was the type of player he liked and I got that feeling from watching Southampton that I could fit in well.
"Not only that, but it's a huge club, and for me I need to be in a team that will suit my style and help me develop, so those were the main reasons."
Asked on what he has already discussed with the Saints boss, he added: "He went through what he likes from his full-backs, It was a lot to take in on the first day, but I think once I get on the training pitch and get to learn his philosophy I think I'll get up to speed quite quickly.
"As a full-back, you're always on the front-foot, looking to make interceptions and looking to be aggressive, getting forward when they have the ball, and I like to think that complements my style."
