Kyle Van Noy ruled out for Patriots’ season-opener vs. Steelers

For the New England Patriots’ Week 1 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Patriots will be without one of their Super Bowl LIII starters, linebacker Kyle Van Noy.

He was among the team’s inactives after not appearing on the injury report in Week 1. The other inactives included cornerback Joejuan Williams, safety Obi Melifonwu, receiver Demaryius Thomas, running back Damien Harris, offensive lineman Korey Cunningham and defensive lineman Corey Cowart.

Thomas (hamstring) and Melifonwu (ankle) were limited for all three of the Week 1 practices. While tight end Matt LaCosse (ankle) was also limited for all three practices, he will suit up for the game.

Van Noy’s absence could create increased roles for linebackers Jamie Collins, Shilique Calhoun and Chase Winovich.

Here’s a look at the Steelers inactives.
