Kyle Van Noy explains how Patriots overcome offseason turnover

The New England Patriots have found a way to sustain success over two decades, while losing incredible players and coaches every offseason.

New England lost Brandin Cooks, Nate Solder, Malcolm Butler and many crucial elements of the team last offseason. They went out and got Trent Brown, Josh Gordon and other key guys to replace them — while finding themselves with another Super Bowl ring.

This has been the ‘Patriot Way’ since 2001, and the formula has a lot to do with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. Kyle Van Noy understands this, and explained why the Patriots can sustain this success while talking to Willie McGinest on “NFL Total Access”.

“(Head coach) Bill (Belichick) does a really good job of the culture being set with the players that have been there for their tenures,” Van Noy said. “Like Patrick Chung, Donte Hightower, Devin McCourty, Tom (Brady), Matthew Slater. Those guys have been there for a while and (the standard) has been passed on from your generation.

“When that culture is set, it doesn’t matter, we all have the same goal in mind and that’s just to win.”

Van Noy isn’t worried about losing 11 important players this offseason — because New England has a few players on the team that set the culture for everyone.
