Kyle Sloter continues to be a preseason star for Vikings

Another preseason, another month of every Vikings fan saying Kyle Sloter should be a backup quarterback.

Sloter did it again on Sunday night, completing 11 of 13 passes for 116 yards and a touchdown.

The team’s backup on the depth chart, Sean Mannion, was 11-for-14, throwing for 88 yards and a touchdown, but he did throw an interception.

So, what does all of this mean? It’s pretty amazing how Sloter continues to play so well in preseason despite maybe not playing so great in practice, which is why Mannion is above him in the competition in the first place.

This is a week after Sloter was 6-for-7 for 62 yards and a touchdown against the Saints.

It’s also worth pointing out that Sloter is going up against a bunch of fringe-roster players.

How does the Vikings coaching staff weigh practice performance and game performance?

It feels more and more likely that the Vikings will keep three quarterbacks.

The question I ask is if you released both Mannion and Sloter, who would be picked up by another team faster? It certainly seems like the answer is Sloter.
