Kyle Schwarber enjoying role as Cubs cheerleader

Rehabbing slugger Kyle Schwarber, who worked out with some agility drills in left field at Wrigley Field Thursday afternoon, has been relegated to the role of Cubs' cheerleader during the postseason.

What has Schwarber learned from cheerleading in the dugout?

"We're good," he said with a grin.

Schwarber was on the road with the team in San Francisco, and said there was never any question of staying back home to rehab in Chicago.

"It's been fun for me," Schwarber said. "These guys are playing their tails off right now. We're confident out there. We're playing our ballgame. We're going to be in spots where we're not going to want to be, and these guys are going into it with professionalism.

"Fun to watch _ the crowd roaring and everyone staying under control. When we do come up in in big spots we seem to be finding our way out of them, or hitting our way into them."

Thursday was the one-year anniversary of the Cubs' NLDS clincher over the Cardinals at Wrigley, when Schwarber deposited a home run on top of the video board in right field, where it was later encased under a plexiglass box.
