MIAMI _ Kyle Schwarber ripped a two-run home run that landed midway in the upper deck of the right field seats in the second inning, but the Cubs needed four runs in the 10th to seize a 10-6 win Saturday night over the Miami Marlins at Marlins Park.
Javier Baez hit a double for his first hit of the season to start the 10th, and he scored the tie-breaking run on a single by Ben Zobrist. Kris Bryant followed later with a two-out, bases-clearing double.
The Cubs needed all the offensive help they could get as Bryan Haladay hit a single with two out in the eighth off Pedro Strop to score Brian Anderson and tie the game at 6.
Schwarber's homer, meanwhile, was his second in three games and offset a two-run homer by Derek Dietrich off Yu Darvish, who failed to pitch effectively in his Cubs debut.
Darvish, who signed a six-year, $126 million contract in February, was pulled after 41/3 innings and 102 pitches. The Cubs needed length from Darvish in the wake of Friday's 17-inning loss in which the Cubs' relievers threw 102/3 innings.
Anthony Rizzo hit a two-run single with two outs in the fifth to snap a 2-2 tie, and Kris Bryant scored from first when right fielder Cameron Maybin bobbled Rizzo's single.
Darvish's failure to pitch at least six innings caused manager Joe Maddon to stretch his bullpen. Carl Edwards Jr., who threw 29 pitches in Friday's 17-inning loss, was needed for one inning and 15 pitches.
