Kyle Rudolph says he’s ‘too young’ to take pay cut

There’s still plenty of speculation of whether the Vikings and tight end Kyle Rudolph will come to terms on a contract restructure.

As far as Rudolph taking a pay cut to play in 2019 (he’s due $7.6 million), that seems incredibly unlikely.

“No, I won’t, I am too young for that,” Rudolph said via the Star Tribune.

It’s the final year of Rudolph’s career. Is Rudolph the high-end player who deserves that type of salary? Well, no. He’s not Travis Kelce. He’s consistent, but not a top-five tight end in the league.

With that being said, the Vikings and Rudolph came to terms on this deal, and Rudolph has every right to keep his contract where it’s at.

Rudolph is 29 and is coming off a season in which he caught 64 passes for 634 yards and four touchdowns.

Last week, linebacker Eric Kendricks restructured his deal so the team could sign first-round pick Garrett Bradbury.
