Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph got himself a big ole extension this offseason, despite having his name floated in trade rumors.
The folks over at CBS Sports ranked the top 10 tight ends in the league. Rudolph ranked No. 10.

Rudolph ending up on this list should be a clue as to how thin the position is. It was barely a month ago that he was reportedly on the trade block and about to be replaced by rookie Irv Smith Jr. The Vikings ended up extending his contract with a new four-year deal, but Rudolph is no better a player after having gotten paid than he was before. He’s always been talented, but he’s also been inconsistent.
Rudolph is a solid tight end, but this ranking is probably accurate. To say he’s a top-10 tight end probably says more about the position group than Rudolph himself.
Last season, Rudolph caught 64 passes for 634 yards and four touchdowns.
For what it’s worth, Rudolph ranks as the top tight end in the NFC North.
