Kyle Naughton to sign new contract in major boost to Swansea City

Kyle Naughton is set to sign a contract extension with Swansea City, WalesOnline understands.

The experienced defender was a key player for Steve Cooper last term and played a significant part in Swansea's run to the Championship play-offs.

However, the 31-year-old saw his contract expire in the summer.

He was offered fresh terms ahead of the 2020/21 season and had been assessing his options following five-and-a-half seasons at the Liberty Stadium.

But it's understood Naughton will now sign a fresh deal with the club that he joined from Tottenham in January 2015.

He is set to sign a one-year extension, with the option of a further 12 months on his deal.

Naughton has made a total of 184 appearances in all competitions for the Swans, scoring six goals.

His stay comes as a significant boost to Swansea who have already seen defenders Mike van der Hoorn and Ben Wilmot leave the club this summer.

In an additional boost to the club, Marc Guehi is set to re-join the Swans from Chelsea on a season-long loan deal.

Elsewhere, Morgan Gibbs-White is expected to sign on a season-long loan deal from Premier League outfit Wolves.
