Kyle McAllister to miss St Johnstone game as he recovers from back injury

St Mirren winger Kyle McAllister won’t be rushed back to action as he recovers from injury.

The youngster has been unavailable in the last few weeks due to an ongoing back problem.

While manager Jim Goodwin wishes he had the 20-year-old available for action this weekend when the Buddies take on St Johnstone, he wants to ensure McAllister is back for good when he makes his return.

Goodwin said: “Kyle tweaked his back a couple of weeks ago and he’s not fully recovered yet

" He’s not a major concern, it’s just something we have to manage at the moment.

“Anything with someone’s back is a difficult one. It’s something that can have an impact on other parts of your body.

“Kyle has a history of problems with his back and his hips, so we just need to manage him properly.

“We don’t want to rush him back and then have him break down again in a month’s time.

“When he comes back we need him to stay part of the squad and not be stop-starting all the time.

“It’s frustrating for him and for me, but it’s early days.

“He’s getting treated well by our medical team and he’ll hopefully be back within the next week to ten days.”
