Kyle Magennis makes Hibs vow as he shatters personal landmark with Kilmarnock strike

On-fire Kyle Magennis has vowed to keep his hot streak going after he set a new personal best for goals in a single season against Kilmarnock.

The 22-year-old has had more than his fair share of injury problems having missed most of last season with various issues.

He joined Hibs in January but the Easter Road faithful are only now seeing what he's capable of with a full pre-season under his belt.

Magennis has hit the back of the net on four separate occasions already, with his tap-in against Kilmarnock getting Hibs up and running in the Premier Sports Cup.

His previous best for a single season was the three he netted for St Mirren back in 2016/17.

And speaking to Hibs TV, he was buzzing to surpass that landmark as Jack Ross' side advanced to the last eight.

He said: "It was good from Kevin Nisbet. I thought he was going to shoot, but he showed good awareness to cut it back.

"From there it was an easy finish.

"I think it's actually the most goals I've scored in a season already, so hopefully I can keep adding to it."

He may be in the form of his life but flying Magennis isn't getting ahead of himself. It's one thing at a time, with his focus remaining on staying fit and sustaining his form in the months ahead.

"I just want to keep fit and keep playing," he went on. "Obviously I've had a lot of injuries but I'm feeling good this season.

"I just want a good full season season, injury-free, and I can show the fans what I'm capable of."
