Kyle Lowry on support from LeBron: ‘He’s an activist, it means a lot’

LeBron James refused to stay on the sidelines after seeing Warriors investor Mark Stevens push Kyle Lowry during Wednesday’s Game 3 of the NBA Finals.

The King called for ‘swift action’ from the league towards Stevens, which came later on in the day as the league and the Warriors announced Stevens would be banned from the NBA for one year and fined $500K. Before the punishment and fine from the NBA was announced, Kyle Lowry was asked at Thursday’s Finals media availability about the life the story has taken on and LeBron’s statement.

The one thing about ‘Bron is he’s always been an activist. he’s unbelievable with this. I sent a text message to him, he sent one back and I thanked him. He’s one of the biggest athletes and most vocal guys that we have out there. His social activism has been amazing and he sticks up for his fellow players. He always does the right thing. He’s been doing the right thing his whole career and it means a lot. It really does to have the support of guys like him and other players reaching out and showing their support.

James has always seen himself as an advocate for players and his actions on Thursday, putting the league and the Warriors feet to the fire with his nearly 50 million Instagram followers, did that once again.
